Mercy Senior Housing

Mercy Housing California (MHC) is the largest regional branch of Mercy Housing, Inc. (MHI), a leading national affordable housing nonprofit.

At Mercy Housing California, we develop and operate 160 affordable, service-enriched rental housing communities that change the lives of families, seniors, and people who have been homeless. Four of these communities are in Marin County. From construction to community development, we advance innovative solutions to meet the scale and urgency of California’s housing crisis.

Mercy Housing’s Green Hope program was designed to reduce our consumption of natural resources, reduce our waste, and create healthier living environments. Between 2010 and 2020, Mercy Housing reduced energy consumption by 24% and water consumption by 27% across its portfolio of properties. Now, we have taken up the Department of Energy’s Better Climate Challenge, aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030.

To achieve water and energy savings, Mercy partnered with:

  • Affordable Community Energy to finance sustainable features and lower common area electricity usage 50%.

  • MCE for helping us implement crucial water and energy saving measures.
